Liberate your Mind
A couple years ago, I was stuck in a rut. I finally had the life I wanted. Part-time OBGYN married to a computer science professor. Excellent 2-3 day work week for both of us, one parent was able to be there with our kids at all times. We were vacationing 3-4 times a year. I was supposed to lead a calm, peaceful and fulfilling life. And this was it. My utopia. Yet, I still felt like I was stuck in a rut.
Seeking counseling because I thought I was suffering from hypomania, knowing that bipolarity ran in my family. Jumping from thought to thought, idea to idea; I labeled that as "flight of ideas", a distinct feature of manic/hypomaniac phase of bipolar disorder. It wasn’t the first time. I had been "suffering" from this for as long as I could remember. These ideas could come anywhere. Driving, during surgery, talking to a patient, traveling etc.
I kept dismissing these creative thoughts and ideas until one day I thought to myself. Everyone has an idea. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is execution. I have nothing to lose. I literally said F it to all the fears of acting on the "whims of a bipolar mind" and put every one of my idea to use. It was an incredibly liberating experience. I got to explore some of my abilities I didn't even know existed. Now, I feel like I can literally do anything I put my mind to.
I urge you to do this. Don’t dismiss your ideas. Take them seriously. They are a concoction of your incredible mind. Yes, everyone has ideas but only a very few will reach the execution stage.
The sooner you liberate your mind, the faster you unleash its powers. Remember, you have absolutely nothing to lose. @selfdevelopment2019
